Lessons
Every student’s journey is unique—factors like age, attention span, technical level, repertoire complexity and family schedule all play a part. After an initial evaluation (via a brief phone consultation or trial lesson), I will assess your child’s current skills, learning style and musical aspirations.
Based on that assessment, I’ll recommend a lesson duration that balances technique work, repertoire study, and musical discussion—ensuring each session is both focused and effective.
Format & Location
In‑Person Lessons (preferred): Bellingham home studio—cozy, focused, and cat‑friendly.
Online Lessons: Live video sessions via Zoom or FaceTime when needed (pandemic plan or travel).
Age Range & Repertoire
Students ages 7 through high school
Suzuki method for foundational skills plus solo & ensemble literature for intermediate/advanced players
Practice & Participation
Your progress depends on consistent practice and involvement:
Written Assignments: Weekly practice goals and repertoire notes provided in writing.
Regular Practice: I recommend at least 4–5 focused practice sessions per week.
Parental Role: Parents are encouraged to sit in on lessons, help track assignments, and celebrate milestones.
Recitals & Festivals
Performance is part of learning:
Studio Recitals: Two informal recitals per year—great for building confidence in a supportive setting.
Local Adjudications & Festivals: I encourage my students to participate in school orchestras, local adjudications and festivals.
Tuition & Policies
Billing: Monthly invoice emailed on the 25th for lessons in the upcoming month.
Payment Due: 1st of each month. Late payments incur a $25 fee.
Payment Methods: Zelle or check.
Missed Lessons:
Illness/Emergency: Makeup lesson scheduled at my discretion.
Non‑Emergency No‑Show: Lesson forfeited (no makeup).
Pandemic Plan: Seamless switch to online lessons if in‑person sessions aren’t possible.
